The Children's Program is a very important part of the Feast and can help to support the course set by the parents, playing a role in the success of each young person's life. Our primary desire in having a program for the children is to teach them love for the Torah.
Our plan: For 90 minutes 5 times during our Feast of Tabernacles celebration this year, we would like to pour into the children what Proverbs calls “the way that they should go…” It’s interesting that how we walk is also called “The Way” in Acts 24:14
During these times, they will learn some Hebrew; blow the shofar (they should bring their shofars with them); build and decorate a sukkah, learn how to live a Torah lifestyle in a non-Torah world, and have the opportunity to participate in music, dance, crafts, and games.
The Program is for children ages 6-12, but children under age 6 are welcome to participate with their parent's supervision.
The children’s meeting will begin after Praise and Worship, before the speaker starts. All classes will be held during the afternoon (3:00 PM - 4:30 PM) except for Friday and Tuesday. This will be reflected on the schedule once we know that everything is in place.
Parents will take their children to the children’s tent area to sign in the first day we have the program. This tent is located behind the pavilion and deck (overflow) area on the playground. Parents will bring their children there and pick them up from there.
There may be times when the children go outside for games or activities depending on the weather. Please dress your children in clothes they can get dirty in.
In order to be able to locate you in a hurry, at least one parent of the child/children participating in the program is required to be in attendance at the main teaching sessions in the pavilion or be helping with the children in the children’s tent. Parents must have also registered themselves and their children with Feast of Tabernacles VA 2017 (fotVA).
We expect many children to be at this year's festival, and therefore, we will need a lot of help and assistance in this program. Thus, at least one parent from each family should plan on serving in the program at least once during the festival. There will be a number of 2-hour time slots from which you may choose.
For those who would like to get their service time slot(s) scheduled before the festival, you can do so by calling or emailing Lee Miller at lee.fotVA@gmail.com. He will assist you in getting the time slot that best fits your schedule. Those parents that volunteer will receive a copy of the speaking sessions they miss while serving in the Children's Program.

Volunteers are needed, especially for the younger children. The itinerary of activities for each meeting will be planned out. Volunteers would select a day or two to oversee the events of the meeting; greet the children, help with the lesson, lead the discussion, assist with crafts or games, etc. Our desire is to see people, especially parents, co-op together and get their name on the schedule a couple of times so that no one or two persons are overwhelmed with bearing the responsibility for the children's program. When you volunteer, please indicate if you would like to lead the meeting or just be there for support.
