Feast of Tabernacles VA 2016

The Feast of Tabernacles, also called the Feast of Booths, Sukkot (Hebrew for booths), and the Season of our Joy, is one of the three "pilgrimage" festivals listed in Leviticus 23, along with the Feast of Unleavened Bread (with Passover), and Sha'vuot (Greek: Pentecost), that believers in the first and second century continued to observe as part of the walking out of their faith in the Messiah Yeshua.

This festival commences on the 15th day of the 7th month on the Biblical calendar and lasts for 7 days. It looks back to the "wanderings of Israel" before they entered the "promised land" and looks forward to the "7th Day", that is, the Millennial Kingdom, where the prophet Zechariah stated that all the world would be observing this joyful festival for a Thousand Years here on earth (14:8-21).

This will be a time when the people of all nations will learn how to walk out our Heavenly Father's instructions and experience the resulting blessings (Isaiah 2:3).

After the seven days, there is the final festival of the Biblical calendar year, one day long, called Sh'mini Atzeret, the 8th Day, that teaches us what life will be like in the era beyond the Millennial Kingdom, the New Heavens and the New Earth.

Concerning the Feast of Tabernacles, it is interesting that our Heavenly Father "commands" that when we gather, we are to wave the lulavim and we are to rejoice! And when we do gather, there will be families, singles, kids, and adults, all rejoicing together. What a wonderful time for Celebration, Praise and Worship, Davidic Dancing, Blowing the Shofar, Fellowship, Breaking Bread, and Learning from different teachers about what Paul taught us in Colossians 2:17 when he said: "The Festivals, New Moons, and Sabbaths contain a foreshadowing of things to come..." And this was 30 years after the resurrection!

House of David Fellowship (RVA) will be hosting a Feast of Tabernacles gathering October 16th to October 24th at the Bethpage Camp-Resort (who offers camping, cabins, and RVs) and this is your invitation to consider gathering with His people from all over the East Coast.

Meet the Team!

Teamwork is the ability to work as a group toward a common vision, even if that vision is not always clear.
Putting together multiple teams to bring forth a Feast of Tabernacles celebration is more than just teamwork: It's practically a miracle!

More than a bunch of pretty faces, our team (Your Team! that is..) has been working together for more than 15 years, attending feasts in different states and holding an array of leadership positions, all the way up to senior administrator for one of the largest independent Feast of Tabernacles sites in the nation, Season of our Joy (sooj.org). What we now know is that we have been in training for such a time as this.

Who am I speaking of? Mark and Susan Matthews and Lee and Jackie Miller. We have been trained by some of the best and now we hope that we can make all that training pay off.

Starting out small, with Lee playing piano and leading Praise and Worship, Jackie leading signing, Mark running sound (and later playing drums), and Susan running PowerPoint, we got our feet wet in learning what it took to get the job done at a beginning level.

Eventually, we built a team that totaled over 40 people playing and singing, signing, setting up audio and video systems, running audio, running video and cameras, running computers and networking, PowerPoint, running social media, and broadcasting messages LIVE on the Internet.

When the Call came that we should take what we learned and begin applying it here in Virginia (VA), we were very excited about getting started and now, here we are ready to actually do it!

While the people who are serving using the gifts they have been given by our Heavenly Father might be different, the rest of it is the same. Like we say at House of David Fellowship, it's upside down. He who wants to be great and the leader must be servant of all. So everybody has a shot!

So while our core team might be small today, we look forward to growing and becoming a feast site that can welcome not only those who have been walking in "The Way" for years and years, but also those whose eyes are just now having the scales lifted off of them!

Our philosophy has always been "push the envelope, be prepared, and ALWAYS be Christ-like". Having the honor and privilege to hold a celebration like this in our home state of Virginia is very exciting and as has been the case every year, we are looking forward to meeting those who are brand new to this walk.

Since our theme this year relates to Jeremiah 16:19, we are here and ready to share with you what experiences we have had coming out of paganism and getting our feet firmly planted on the road called “The Way!”

So, if the Feast of Tabernacles VA celebration looks like something you would be interested in attending and serving at, please register and let us know where you would like to serve. What an EXCELLENT opportunity to bless so many in the body of Messiah.
